Sometimes I wonder if I am really a failure in life.
My dad runs a Fortune 500 organization. My relatives are company directors or high fliers in tech companies. My friends are all university graduates in enviable, well paying jobs. Many of them are top earners who talk about their flashy new cars or exotic vacations.
And here I am, an out-of-work dumbass who works really hard, but I keep encountering obstacle after obstacle in a never ending downwards spiral.
Hey, lighten up. Things will get better.
Don't keep thinking about what could have been. Made a mistake? Take it as a lesson learnt and move on. There is no point ruminating over what went wrong and what could have gone right over and over again.
Hey, look at me.
My parents are staying in a penthouse. My uncle is living in a swanky uptown apartment with a Ferrari. My brother is working as an expat in Dubai with a well-paying job.
Me? I am going through a divorce with a young son in tow, driving a beat up Volkswagen.
But I am happy.
Don't let life get you down.
Can't you ask your family members for help? Sounds like you already have a network in place.
Don't compare yourself to others. Everybody's career is different. Sometimes, it's just luck, being hired by the right company at the right time. Being picked to work on a high profile project, and so on. I think it is better to focus on your own goals, instead of trying to compare your achievements with other people's achievements. Otherwise, you will always be stuck in a spiral of dissatisfaction.
